Hey everyone. My name is Mike, and lawns and gardens are my expertise and passion. I grew up in the Midwest and spent each spring in my family garden, selecting new varieties, planting annuals, and spreading mulch. Now, as I study to become a Master Gardener, I also cultivate my own garden full of perennials, annuals, ornamentals, fruits, and vegetables. Flowers are my favorite plant to grow, especially petunias and zinnias.
I discovered my love for yard and lawn care when I worked caring for turfgrass on golf courses. There, I learned the techniques to not only make greens and fairways flourish, but also how to handle drainage, renovations, leveling and other major lawn projects.
As a homegrown Midwesterner, I also know the best ways to winterize your house and beat the long, cold winter. I have first-hand experience in shoveling before bed so that the snow you shovel extra early the next day isn't so much. I'll be right there with you every winter. And while the winter in cold areas, like the Midwest, can feel like a drag, I love to use the time to attend gardening expos, work with my indoor garden, winter sow seeds, and plan my outdoor garden for the upcoming spring.
